In Elstor Oy’s system, electricity is purchased during the lowest-cost hours of the day and stored as thermal energy. The stored heat can then be used to produce steam according to the customer’s needs around the clock. This enables fossil fuels traditionally used in steam production to be replaced with emission-free electricity.

The system’s automatic control schedules charging for periods when electricity prices are lowest. It also takes into account the storage capacity and forecast heat demand when optimizing the charging process. Charging and discharging operate independently, allowing the customer to use stored heat even while the system is being charged.
